Artist Bio
Born and raised in the central plains of Iowa, just outside Des Moines, Brad Keller realized his sense and appreciation for art and design at an early age. He began dabbling with different mediums during his high school years under the art instruction of Bob Kling and Richard Kazmerzak at Indianola High. It was there where he experimented with mediums such as charcoal, oil, acrylic, airbrush, and sculpture.
Brad continued his education at Pensacola Christian College where he majored in Commercial Art and minored in e-Business. At PCC, he was taught the traditional style of art and illustration and developed a strong foundation for his own personal style. He favored oils to all the other mediums taught there and under the direction of Resident Artist, Brian Jekel, he was taught how to capture a person’s likeness through portraiture. Brad particularly enjoyed working under Jekel, because of the emphasis on solid drawing and color theory. Brad was also able to internship with wildlife artist Marilyn Marsh and former instructor/fellow artist Bob Kling while still attending college.
Soon after graduating, Brad joined the Marketing Creative Services Team as a graphic designer for American Republic Insurance Company in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked closely with a very creative team of artists and writers and developed a thorough knowledge of print and further increased his sense concept in design.
Brad and his wife, Tracie, live in Des Moines, Iowa where he now works fulltime as a portrait painter.
